I pretended to be Kamla’s husband

There was one moment of cooperation with Kamla Persad-Bissessar that Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley recalls with some fondness, and that was when they attended the funeral of former South African president Nelson Mandela together and he “preten­ded” to be Persad-Bissessar’s husband.

When they went to South Africa, Persad-Bissessar was prime minister and Rowley was opposition leader.

According to Rowley, there was a viewing of the bo­dy and people were allowed to view in order of rank.
