Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has said he sought “sound legal advice” on his resignation as Prime Minister and the appointment of Energy Minister Stuart Young to replace him as prime minister.
In a pre-recorded interview titled From Mason Hall to Whitehall: The Closing Chapter with broadcast journalists Juhel Browne, political editor, CCN TV6; TTT senior news anchor Seigonie Mohammed; and Guardian Media Ltd senior reporter/producer Akash Samaroo, which aired last night on the three television stations, Rowley responded to questions on the Opposition’s threat to initiate a legal challenge to Young’s appointment and whether the Government was confident of its interpretation of Section 76 of the Constitution.
Rowley, who steps down as Prime Minister in three days, said he does not advise himself.
