ATTORNEY Jagdeo Singh is expected to be nominated by the Government for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives during today’s ceremonial opening of Parliament.

And, former House speaker Wade Mark, who served as a Minority Leader in the Senate in the last Parliament, returns to the Upper House as Senate President.

As a result of his new role, Mark will act as President of the Republic in the absence of the substantive officeholder, Christine Kangaloo.
