(Kaieteur News) – The Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) on Wednesday said a new $512,300,000 state-of-the-art baggage handling system is currently being installed at the airport and will be completed next month.
This is according to CJIA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ramesh Ghir who noted that the major infrastructure upgrade is moving apace.
According to a release from CJIA, once fully operational, this system will vastly improve the traveler experience by allowing passengers to drop off their checked bags directly at the airline counters, where screening will then be conducted remotely. CJIA said that to support this system, new and modern baggage scanners are also being installed to ensure seamless backend operations.
