Man leaves to sell yams, returns to house fire

A man who left home to sell a bag of yams returned to find his house on fire.
Shane Gomez’s home was destroyed in the blaze. Gomez left his Rock River, Moruga house around 2.30 a.m. on Saturday and, half an hour later, was informed by his nephew that the structure was on fire. Gomez, 35, arrived at the location to find his house engulfed in flames.
The fire and police services were contacted and officers from the Princes Town Fire Station extinguished the flames. However, the one bedroom, ply wood house was destroyed.
