Eight IDC escapees still at large

EIGHT Venezuelans remained at large yesterday after 14 detainees escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre in Arima on Saturday afternoon following an assault on detention officers.
According to police, the incident occurred at about 3.40 p.m. when a detention officer on sentry duty detected smoke coming from the Male Housing Unit and alerted a supervisor.
