A Chaguanas businessman has been granted $50,000 bail with surety after being charged with fraudulent conversion involving $5,500.
Shamir Rafique appeared before a Justice of the Peace and is expected to appear before a Master of the High Court on September 2nd, 2026.
According to police, the victim paid a down payment in November 2025 for the supply and installation of a glass shopfront and commercial door, which was to be completed within six weeks. Police allege the work was never done and repeated attempts to recover the money were unsuccessful.
