The Express has confirmed that Opposition Senator Janelle John-Bates will be replaced on the Public Accounts and Administration Committee (PAAC) after reports that she allegedly assisted former Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh, a key witness, whom she was tasked with examining a committee meeting.
It was alleged that John-Bates assisted in drafting Deyalsingh’s statement for submission to the committee. On Monday, the Committee adjourned its meeting to resume its enquiry into “The State’s Acquisition of Pharmaceuticals as it Relates to the Current Processes Applicable to its Importation and Approval” as a result.
Sources say that Parliament has been notified and an announcement will be made during the next Senate sitting. A source declined to comment on whether she would be replaced as a senator.
