A pedestrian lost his life on Saturday after he was struck while attempting to cross the De Kinderen Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD). The deceased man has been identified as thirty-six-year-old Kempton Forrester of De Kinderen Housing Scheme, WCD. Based on reports received, a motorcar bearing registration number PSS 3141, which was at the time driven by a 20-year-old male of Boeraserie, WCD, was exiting a supermarket parking lot when it reportedly struck Forrester, who was crossing the roadway. As a result of the collision, the pedestrian sustained injuries to his head and body and was taken to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital by the same driver, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention. Footage from CCTV was retrieved and is being reviewed by traffic ranks. A breathalyser test conducted on the driver returned readings of six micrograms on both tests. He remains in custody pending further investigations.
