ST MARY, Jamaica — A 36-year-old security guard has been arrested after police seized ammunition, suspected firearm parts and several documents believed to be fraudulent during an operation in Highgate, St Mary, on Saturday.
According to police reports, lawmen were conducting an enforcement operation in the town when they saw a man with what appeared to be a firearm tucked into his waistband. He reportedly told police that he was a licensed firearm holder and presented an identification card purporting to have been issued by the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA).
The police said he was taken to the Highgate Police Station, where further checks revealed that the firearm was an imitation. The weapon was reportedly fitted with a magazine containing nine 9mm rounds.
