A 20-year-old Ecclesville, Rio Claro woman is being treated at the Sangre Grande Hospital after she was doused with muriatic acid in a daylight attack in Rio Claro on Monday.
Police said around 3:55 pm, she was standing near Scotiabank in Rio Claro when a man wearing a green CEPEP top approached her and threw a liquid onto her face, causing intense burning to her eyes, face, and lips. She ran from the scene and was assisted by a passerby, who took her to a nearby health facility before she was transferred to hospital for further treatment.
Officers recovered a bottle containing muriatic acid near the bank. Investigations are ongoing.
