The Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners is recommending that healthcare workers, frontline tourism workers, seniors and vulnerable groups, such as those with chronic illnesses, get the influenza vaccine.
Acknowledging a significant rise in respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19 and influenza, as reported by the Ministry of Health and Wellness, President of BAMP Dr Lynda Williams says the 2026-2027 vaccines will soon be available.
Dr Williams says vulnerable people, or those experiencing worsening symptoms, should immediately contact their medical provider or seek emergency medical attention.
