TWO soldiers and two coastguardsmen who were on a “confidence” patrol are now being probed following one of them losing his Sig Sauer pistol and ammunition when they all went bar-hopping last Thursday.
A board of enquiry into the incident began yesterday, and was set up following an investigation by the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) Intelligence Unit.
While the Express was gathering further information for this story, the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment (TTR) posted a release on its Instagram page late on Monday night vaguely referring to a joint patrol operation on February 20, stating that “checks identified discrepancies in issued equipment. The matter was reported by the men of the joint patrol and is currently under internal review.”
