Her­itage Pe­tro­le­um has clamped a hy­dro­car­bon leak near the Moru­ga Sec­ondary School that trig­gered air qual­i­ty test­ing and emer­gency re­sponse mea­sures late last month.

The com­pa­ny, in a state­ment, said the leak, de­tect­ed on May 23, prompt­ed im­me­di­ate ac­tion by its emer­gency team to con­tain and clean the area. It has since re­stored the site.

Dur­ing the cleanup, school of­fi­cials re­port­ed a strong odour.
