Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander says an aircraft that landed at the Piarco International Airport with prohibited dangerous items on board poses no threat to the public.
Responding to a question in the Lower House on Friday, Minister Alexander confirmed the aircraft’s presence at the airport, noting that it was impounded shortly after landing.
“Mr. Speaker, shortly after 6pm yesterday evening, an aircraft containing several tonnes of prohibited dangerous items landed at the Piarco International Airport and was immediately impounded. The aircraft remained impounded, and the two pilots and six crew members who were on board the aircraft have been detained for questioning.”
