KINGSTON, Jamaica—The Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) has moved to dispel misconceptions surrounding the licensing process for Jamaica’s regulated medical cannabis industry, stressing that registration through third parties or community groups does not constitute an application for a cannabis licence or guarantee approval.

In a statement on Friday, the authority reaffirmed its commitment to supporting traditional ganja farmers seeking to transition into the legal industry, while emphasising that all applicants must follow the statutory licensing process.

The CLA said it recognises the historic role of traditional ganja farmers and is committed to ensuring they receive accurate information on how to lawfully enter the regulated cannabis sector.
