Banned miner, heavy equipment continues to force way onto Chinese Landing Titled Lands

Kaieteur News – Residents of Chinese Landing are raising the alarm as illegal mining operations and heavy machinery have once again breached their titled lands, leaving the Indigenous Carib community to police its own borders without government support.

At the center of the renewed crisis is Rylon Adolphus, better known as “Isaac”, a miner previously banned from the area following international human rights interventions, who has reportedly forced his way back onto village territory. Toshao Nikita Miller confirmed that Adolphus, who is employed by the same mining interests with whom the village has longstanding disputes, has resumed his presence despite direct assurances from Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat.

“He don’t deal nice with people. He’s very abusive to villagers, to strangers, anybody… he don’t have manners,” Toshao Miller said, describing Adolphus’s history of hostility dating back to at least 2021. “When we would go with GGMC, he would curse you… put on he mask and curse you from head to toe. From since the beginning, he’s just a problem man.”
