A DECADE-OLD fraud case against a former manager of the Island Club Group of Companies collapsed Wednesday, after the prosecution again failed to appear in court, prompting a magistrate to dismiss the matter for want of prosecution.
The ruling was delivered by Magistrate Rehanna Ali in the Second District Court, Tunapuna, following a defence application grounded in the State's prolonged non-compliance and repeated delays.
Abbas Khaledi had been charged with fraudulently converting a white Nissan Urban lowtop panel van, registration TCJ 9761, belonging to West Indian Gourmet Ltd. The charge alleged the offence occurred between June 1 and July 31, 2015, at Grand Bazaar Settlement No 3, Valsayn, contrary to Section 21(b) of the Larceny Act, Chap 11:12.
