Contractor shot, father-son duo chopped during backdam brawl

A contractor is now nursing a gunshot injury to his abdomen while two other men are suffering from chops to their bodies during an incident at Friendship, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Monday.

According to reports received, a 54-year-old farmer of Providence, EBD, along with his 26-year-old son, went to their farmland in the area with a tractor to clear and prepare the land for farming. However, while leaving, the father-son duo reportedly entered another person’s property with a rifle in search of iguanas.

A 33-year-old contractor of Friendship, EBD, along with five others who were fishing on the property, confronted the two farmers and warned them about discharging their firearm.
