Three killed in Baramita clash

Kaieteur News – Police are investigating a fatal incident which occurred on Saturday September 19, 2026 about 09:30hrs at Aranka Village, Baramita, North West District, resulting in the deaths of Joy John, 40; her husband, Amar Thomas, 38 and Tony Williams, 62, all farmers.

Preliminary investigations revealed that John and Thomas lived together at a camp in the area with their five-year-old son, while Williams resided at another camp approximately 20 miles away. It is alleged that Williams went to John and Thomas’ camp, where an argument subsequently ensued between him and John, during which Williams allegedly dealt John a chop to her neck with a cutlass.

Thomas, who was reportedly returning from his farm, subsequently confronted Williams, resulting in an altercation during which both men allegedly inflicted injuries on each other with sharp objects.
