THA rejects liability in fatal jet ski case

THE Tobago House of Assembly (THA) and Pigeon Point Heritage Park Ltd rejected liability for the April 8, 2026, jet ski collision at Pigeon Point Heritage Park which resulted in the death of seven-year-old Angelica Saydee Jogie.

The position was set out in a September 8 letter from the THA’s Division of Legal Affairs to Freedom Law Chambers, which was acting for Salisha Anita Narine-Jogie and Arnold Jogie, in their own right and as the parents of Angelina Jogie. The letter responded to a July 15 communication from the law firm concerning proposed legal proceedings against Ashworth “Whistle” Burnett (the jet ski operator), the THA and Pigeon Point Heritage Park Ltd. It addressed liability, rather than the amount of damages being claimed.

The THA, through its Division of Legal Affairs, said its clients acknowledged the pain associated with the events of April 8 and the loss suffered by the family, but drew a distinction between expressing sympathy and accepting responsibility.
