NINE INJURED AS BOATS COLLIDE

AFTER nine people were injured in a boat collision in Sunday at Pigeon Point Beach, Tobago, just five months following the fatal jet-ski accident that claimed the life of seven-year-old girl at the popular site, some stakeholders are calling for stronger regulations.

Police stated that around 6 p.m. on Sunday, boat captain Irwin Nicholls was steering a black and blue pirogue named Water Junkie proceeding east along the designated channel in the vicinity of Pigeon Point Beach, when Renaldo Yeates, who was at the time steering a white and blue pirogue named Game Changer, came in the opposite direction and directly in the pathway of the first pirogue.

In an effort to avoid collision, Nicholls veered his pirogue to the right and, as a result, both pirogues collided, causing damage to the front left side of Water Junkie and the bow of Game Changer.
