Gov­ern­ment is mov­ing to re­name Nel­son Is­land with a com­mit­tee to over­see the process al­ready es­tab­lished.

The an­nounce­ment was made yes­ter­day by Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar, who said the com­mit­tee would be head­ed by Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary in the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter, Natasha Bar­row, and would work in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Na­tion­al Trust of T&T.

The Prime Min­is­ter made the an­nounce­ment dur­ing a vis­it to Nel­son Is­land along­side In­dia’s Min­is­ter of Ex­ter­nal Af­fairs, Dr Sub­rah­manyam Jais­hankar. She said the re­nam­ing ex­er­cise would in­volve pub­lic par­tic­i­pa­tion.
