GovÂernÂment is movÂing to reÂname NelÂson IsÂland with a comÂmitÂtee to overÂsee the process alÂready esÂtabÂlished.
The anÂnounceÂment was made yesÂterÂday by Prime MinÂisÂter KamÂla PerÂsad-BissesÂsar, who said the comÂmitÂtee would be headÂed by PerÂmaÂnent SecÂreÂtary in the OfÂfice of the Prime MinÂisÂter, Natasha BarÂrow, and would work in colÂlabÂoÂraÂtion with the NaÂtionÂal Trust of T&T.
The Prime MinÂisÂter made the anÂnounceÂment durÂing a visÂit to NelÂson IsÂland alongÂside InÂdiaâs MinÂisÂter of ExÂterÂnal AfÂfairs, Dr SubÂrahÂmanyam JaisÂhankar. She said the reÂnamÂing exÂerÂcise would inÂvolve pubÂlic parÂticÂiÂpaÂtion.
