Fifteen (15) households comprising sixty-two (62) beneficiaries from the Port of Spain and Diego Martin regions, received critical support, as the Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services (MPSDFS) distributed Disaster Relief and Home Repair Grants, valued at one hundred and thirty-nine thousand, eight hundred and seventy-two dollars ($139,872.00).
At the distribution event, which was held at the Ministry’s Head Office, St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain, eleven (11) Disaster General Assistance Grants and four (4) Home Repair Grants were delivered to beneficiaries, to assist them and their families in recovering from unforeseen hardships and restore safe and dignified living conditions.
Delivering the feature address, the Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, emphasized that the grants represent more than financial assistance, they restore hope, dignity and stability to vulnerable citizens during challenging times. “Today is about restoring hope,” Minister Mohit stated. “When hardship comes, whether through disaster, damage to one’s home, or unexpected circumstances, the Government must be present, compassionate and responsive.”
