Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Saturday launched the National Prosthetics Centre in her constituency of Siparia, which she said would restore dignity, confidence and independence to many citizens.
The centre was inaugurated in the presence of India’s Minister of External Affairs Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Delivering the feature address at the centre’s Clarke Road, Penal, compound, she said it was established through a collaboration among the Trinidad and Tobago, the government of India, and the Jaipur Foot USA. She said it was a transformative development for the people of T&T, particularly members of the differently-abled community.
