More than 200 peoÂple awaitÂing prosÂthetÂic limbs are exÂpectÂed to benÂeÂfit from the openÂing of the NaÂtionÂal ProsÂthetÂics CenÂtre at Clarke Road, PeÂnal, Health MinÂisÂter Dr LackÂram BoÂdoe said yesÂterÂday, as he deÂscribed the faÂcilÂiÂty as a maÂjor mileÂstone in strengthÂenÂing healthÂcare serÂvices in T&T.
Prime MinÂisÂter KamÂla PerÂsad-BissesÂsar, in whose conÂstituenÂcy the cenÂtre is loÂcatÂed, said it would not onÂly benÂeÂfit loÂcals, but the plan is to exÂpand the serÂvices to CariÂcom terÂriÂtoÂries.
SpeakÂing at the launch of the cenÂtre, esÂtabÂlished through a partÂnerÂship inÂvolvÂing the GovÂernÂment of InÂdia and Jaipur Foot USA, BoÂdoe said the faÂcilÂiÂty would help adÂdress the growÂing deÂmand for prosÂthetÂic serÂvices while imÂprovÂing long-term care and reÂhaÂbilÂiÂtaÂtion for amÂputees.
