Guyanese ex-Bermuda cop fired over alleged elderly man financial abuse

(Kaieteur News) – The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) has fired Guyanese national and former Police Inspector David Bhagwan, who is accused of financially exploiting an elderly man.

Bhagwan’s dismissal was reportedly announced by Bermuda’s Commissioner of Police, Darrin Simmons, following a special case hearing. The former inspector’s legal troubles were reported by Bermuda’s Royal Gazette, which said Bhagwan appeared before the island’s Magistrates’ Court last month facing four criminal charges.

Among the allegations is that Bhagwan obtained a 2025 Kia Picanto between an unknown date and June 8, 2026, with the intention of permanently depriving the owner of the vehicle.
