Kaieteur News- Hardeep Singh, the British man accused of scamming four Guyanese out of $145 million, had previously spent three years and four months in prison in the United Kingdom for fraud.
Under the name Hardeep Bharya, he was among five persons accused of stealing £400,000 from wealthy customers of a Lloyds Bank branch in Ealing, London. Bharya was jailed in 2016 and was 30 years old at the time.
According to UK news outlet MyLondon, Bharya and his accomplices carried out the fraud with the assistance of a bank insider, who was a former employee of the branch.
