Local Government Minister Khadijah Ameen says there are matters within the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP) that she will be reporting to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).
On Sunday, Ameen, in a media release, claimed there was rampant corruption in the URP, where millions of dollars had been used to fund a payroll that included the daughter of a People’s National Movement (PNM) official, who is studying abroad.
She stated that of the $300 million allocated to the URP for this fiscal year, $231 million has already been drawn down, yet only $2 million had been spent on actual goods and services.
