The Trinidad and Tobago Commonwealth Games Association (TTCGA) has announced that boxer Nigel Paul and netballer Joelisa Cooper have been selected as the official Flag and Baton Bearers for Team Trinidad and Tobago at the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The TTCGA said the honour recognises two outstanding athletes who have consistently demonstrated excellence in their respective sports while exemplifying the values of dedication, leadership and national pride.
Olympian Nigel Paul has established himself as one of Trinidad and Tobago’s premier boxers, representing the country with distinction at regional and international competitions. Known for his powerful performances in the heavyweight division and a Bronze medal at the World Championships, Paul has earned multiple national and international accolades throughout his career. According to the TTCGA, his selection as Flag Bearer is a fitting recognition of his commitment to the sport and his dedication to representing Trinidad and Tobago on the international stage.
