Residents of Third Street, Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara, have commended the Guyana Fire Service (GFS) for its swift response to a reported house fire on Tuesday morning.

According to the Guyana Fire Service, a report of a house on fire was received at approximately 09:30h and firefighters responded. However, upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the fire had already been extinguished by residents and other public-spirited individuals in the community. The Guyana Fire Service expressed gratitude to those who took immediate action to contain the fire before emergency responders arrived.

In a statement, the Fire Service thanked the individuals involved for their swift intervention, noting that their efforts helped protect the affected property as well as neighbouring homes.
