PUBLIC UTILITIES Minister Barry Padarath yesterday dismissed claims by the Opposition that hundreds of workers were hired at the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) in secret and without proper process.
Padarath said yesterday some 426 employees were hired to fill critical vacancies which were essential to the running of the public utility.
The minister said this was stated clearly to the Parliament and there was no secrecy behind the hirings.
