Dozens of citizens braved the rainy weather yesterday, to gather under a white tent at the garden of Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s, to have their voices heard at a public consultation on the Home Invasion (Self-Defence and Defence of Property) Bill, 2025, commonly known as the “Stand Your Ground” Bill.
The event marked the continuation of national discussions which began the previous week.
Minister in the Ministry of Housing, Phillip Edward Alexander, who also serves as Shadow MP for Port of Spain North/St Ann’s West, hosted the event alongside a panel comprising Minister of Defence Wayne Sturge, attorney Arron Levi Daniel Smith and firearm security specialist Paul Daniel Nahous, among others.
