FORMER National Carnival Commission (NCC) chairman Winston “Gypsy” Peters defended the former administration’s borrowing of $200 million to pay Carnival contractors, saying that this administration would soon, too, have to borrow to pay debts.
Gypsy responded to statements in a release from the Michelle Benjamin-led Ministry of Culture and Community Development.
In that release the ministry said financial records showed that, in April, the commission took a $200 million loan to pay bills related to Carnival 2025.
