Bullet holes now scar the side of a Penal home after gunfire erupted outside a bar on Monday night, killing 38-year-old construction worker Kyle Belmontes and leaving his family in mourning.
Belmontes, a father of three, was sitting under a shed in the carpark of Hangover Restaurant and Bar on Penal Rock Road, when a gunman opened fire. Around 11.54 pm, patrons reported hearing multiple explosions outside the popular venue.
Officers from the Penal Police Station arrived shortly after midnight and found Belmontes dead in a drain on the compound. Crime Scene Investigators recovered 21 spent 5.56 shell casings, five live 9mm rounds, and one projectile at the scene.
