The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Student Guild has welcomed the institution’s decision not to increase tuition fees for the upcoming academic year.
Speaking with the Express yesterday via telephone, guild president Vedanand Hargobin said students were informed of the decision on Tuesday evening, and they were pleased to have a one-year window before any increase takes effect.
“They are very happy of that timeline of a year to prepare for the increase in tuition,” Hargobin said, adding that the grace period would allow students to “secure loans, (and access) better financial help.”
