Following two recent violent incidents at Piarco International Airport, law enforcement authorities have launched a 24-hour tactical and canine police presence at the country’s main international gateway.
Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro has described the measure as a turning point in national security efforts.
“Today marks more than just the launch of a tactical and canine deployment,” he said at a news conference held at the VIP Lounge at the airport yesterday. “It marks a turning point in how we as a nation confront the threats to our safety—not with fear but with resolve. Not with rhetoric but with readiness.”
