Former national security minister Marvin Gonzales said yesterday that the proposal to have gated communities will lead to the division of the society along socio-economic lines.

He was responding to Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Khadijah Ameen’s announcement that Cabinet had appointed an Inter-ministerial committee to develop a policy for the establishment of gated communities.

Gonzales said the national community should monitor the UNC’s response towards crime and criminality in Trinidad and Tobago.
