– another sent to prison on conviction warrant
Lakeram Tulsiram of Prospect Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was fined $150,000 after he admitted to driving while his alcohol consumption level exceeded the legal limit. Tulsiram appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him. He reportedly pleaded guilty, and the fine was imposed. Meanwhile, 39-year-old Michael Dennis, of Cinema Street, Diamond, EBD, also appeared at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court and was sent to the Lusignan Prison following the execution of a conviction warrant. Dennis was previously charged with trafficking 238 grams of cannabis. However, on February 24, 2021, he was sentenced in absentia to three years’ imprisonment and fined $30,000. At about 11:00h on Wednesday last, contact was made with Dennis at the Central Police Station in Regional Division Six, and the conviction warrant was executed.
