THE Counter Trafficking Unit (CTU) says it has broken up a major human trafficking ring, rescuing three women and seizing an illegal gun, as well as more than $100,000 in cash, following an operation in Tunapuna yesterday.
In what was described as a “significant breakthrough against human trafficking in Trinidad and Tobago”, the CTU of the Ministry of Homeland Security executed “Operation G-Ride”, which saw law enforcement officers visit a home along St Vincent Street.
According to a ministry media release issued yesterday, the operation was as the result of at least six months of intensive intelligence gathering and surveillance.
