Opposition Senator Dr. Amery Browne has reported to police a series of explicit death threats made against him and his family by a commenter on social media, describing the incident as the most serious he has faced in nearly two decades of political life.
In a statement posted to his social media account yesterday, Dr. Browne shared a screenshot of the threats and confirmed he had made a full report to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
“I have made a full report to the Police Service based on online death threats made against me and members of my family in the form of specific comments on my Facebook wall,” he wrote. “I have been involved in the active politics of Trinidad and Tobago since 2007, and have never experienced anything like this. I am treating the issue very seriously.”
