Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has signalled a shift in how some State resources are delivered, saying the Government intends to move away from laziness, wastage and the misuse of public assistance, and towards rewarding law-abiding, hard-working citizens.
In a statement posted on her social media accounts yesterday, hours before Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo presents the 2026/2027 national budget in Parliament from 1.30 p.m. today, Persad-Bissessar said Government would redirect resources towards productive economic activity and citizens who made an honest contribution to society.
