Lawyers repĀreĀsentĀing SuriĀname have agreed that the counĀtry will abide by a Caribbean Court of JusĀtice (CCJ) rulĀing on the leĀgalĀiĀty of a unique leĀgal meaĀsure used by its prosĀeĀcuĀtors to deĀny deĀtainees acĀcess to leĀgal repĀreĀsenĀtaĀtion while they are unĀder inĀvesĀtiĀgaĀtion.
SuriĀnamese atĀtorĀney Hans Lim A Po gave the comĀmitĀment yesĀterĀday as he preĀsentĀed subĀmisĀsions on beĀhalf of the counĀtry in a landĀmark case brought by poĀlitĀiĀcal anĀaĀlyst Derek RamĀsamooj, who was subĀjectĀed to theĀ meaĀsure in 2020.
