Gonzales: Government ‘attacking’ Amplia, 150 workers

Former public utilities minister Marvin Gonzales has accused the Government of attacking Amplia and putting 150 employees on the breadline.

Gonzales yesterday called for answers as to what process was used to replace Amplia’s call centre services to the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) with a contract to Hummingbird Holdings Ltd of Diego Martin for $49 million.

Speaking at a news conference at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition in Port of Spain yesterday, he also called on Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath to state what tendering process was used, or how Hummingbird was able to enter into a sole select contract.
