A 45-year-old man was ordered to undergo an assessment at St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital, after he appeared in court Monday, charged with the murder of his 75-year-old father.
According to a police media release, Christopher Banfield was charged with the offence, when he appeared before Master Whitney Franklin in North Court ‘C’ on June 23. The matter will next be heard on July 8, 2025.
Peter Banfield, 75, also of Flanagin Town, was found dead in his kitchen on June 12, 2025. The post-mortem found that he died as a result of strangulation and multiple blunt force trauma.
