Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar has con­demned the at­tack at the White House Cor­re­spon­dents’ Din­ner on Sat­ur­day night, ex­press­ing re­lief that Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump, First La­dy Mela­nia Trump and oth­ers in at­ten­dance were not harmed.

In a so­cial me­dia post yes­ter­day, Per­sad-Bisses­sar said she was re­lieved that all of­fi­cials and guests were safe fol­low­ing the in­ci­dent. She al­so com­mend­ed the Unit­ed States Se­cret Ser­vice mem­bers for their re­sponse.

“The swift ac­tion of the Unit­ed States Se­cret Ser­vice in ap­pre­hend­ing the shoot­er is com­mend­able, and I ex­tend my best wish­es to the in­jured of­fi­cer. I strong­ly con­demn all acts of vi­o­lence against de­mo­c­ra­t­ic in­sti­tu­tions, and my thoughts are with those af­fect­ed and trau­ma­tised by this in­ci­dent,” Per­sad-Bisses­sar said.
