Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has condemned the attack at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night, expressing relief that President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and others in attendance were not harmed.
In a social media post yesterday, Persad-Bissessar said she was relieved that all officials and guests were safe following the incident. She also commended the United States Secret Service members for their response.
“The swift action of the United States Secret Service in apprehending the shooter is commendable, and I extend my best wishes to the injured officer. I strongly condemn all acts of violence against democratic institutions, and my thoughts are with those affected and traumatised by this incident,” Persad-Bissessar said.
