Police are investigating a report in which a 30-year-old woman was shot while asleep.

The incident took place at about 2.30 a.m. Thursday along Rostona Road in San Pablo Village in Valencia. The victim told police that she was asleep in her bed when she heard a series of gunshots. She then felt a burning sensation in her upper right leg and realised she had been shot.

She raised an alarm and notified the police and paramedics. Officers of the Eastern Division, led by PC Ramphal, responded and took the injured woman to the Sangre Grande Hospital. She is said to be in a stable condition.
