Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says law-abiding citizens must show no mercy against criminals who invade their homes, as she declared yesterday that her Government would ensure stand-your-ground legislation is enacted and citizens would have access to legal firearms to defend themselves.
“If criminals invade your homes, do not back down, show absolutely no mercy, and attack them with full force within the law of Trinidad and Tobago. I am fully committed to making sure the law is put in place,” said Persad-Bissessar at the post-Cabinet media conference at the Red House in Port of Spain, yesterday.
The Prime Minister said a committee will create the legislation, and they are looking at models worldwide, including from nearby Florida.
