High winds associated with bad weather yesterday tore away part of the roof of Waheeda Harrylal’s home, leaving the 51-year-old grandmother and her family exposed to the elements.
The incident occurred around midday at Laltoo Trace, where Harrylal resides in a two-storey extension attached to her mother’s house. She shares the space with her 25-year-old son, his pregnant wife, and their five-year-old child.
“I was babysitting at a neighbour when I got the call,” Harrylal said. “My next-door neighbour phoned to tell me the roof blew out. When I got home, this is what I met.”
