SHEETS of galvanised roofing ripped from the Siparia home of an elderly pensioner during strong winds on Saturday have left him exposed to the elements, but the senior citizen says he will remain at the damaged house he has called home for 24 years.
Powerful gusts swept through the community of De Gannes Village during bouts of high winds on Saturday afternoon, tearing away nearly half of the galvanised sheeting from the roof of the wooden and concrete home of 67-year-old Nanikishore Bobby Sirju.
Despite the danger and the uncertainty of more bad weather, Sirju, who earns a living as a “mic man” as he makes public announcements from speakers mounted on his car, told the Express yesterday that he continues to stay in the two-bedroom structure.
